Girl power! for Skateboarder K4

This expansion set was made possible with the assistance of the Power Girl group - 5 little girls who are best friends. Their families call them the Power Girls because when they are all together, they have more energy than the sun. Each outfit was designed with the personalities of the girls in mind - powerful, yet in some cases, subtle.

Rajiah is the "girliest" in the group, yet she is always up for a good game of tackle the boys! Whatever you do, however - don't mess up her hair! The pink camo shows off her feminine warrior qualities; the same qualities that make her an excellent natural leader.

Nadi is as shy and quiet as the butterflies her outfit portrays. Hers is a very subtle power, and lies more in effecting changes outside the range of the others. Even something as quiet as a butterfly flapping its wings can cause great changes across the world...

Arona is an artist... or will be when she grows up. Right now, she simply decorates everything in sight. Follow a trail of glitter and glue and she's usually at the end of it. She loves all the colors and even at such a tender age, has already grasped that art can be a powerful tool, and color an emotion-enhancer.

Daisy, like Nadi, tends to be shy, but she'll talk to anyone about plants and gardening. She's happiest digging in the dirt and chasing her friends with the worms she finds there. She's really excited, because this year, her mommy said she could have her own area in the yard to grow things in. Of course, that required a new outfit....

The 5th member of the Girl Power! team is a faerie. Namaste got in a fight with a little boy faerie and tore one of his wings. Her punishment was for her wings to be transformed into tiny nubs on her back, and she must live her life this way. There is hope, however, as they will return to their full glory if she can ever master the path of peaceful power. Once she does, she must never stray, or she will lose her wings forever. She has already learned that peace and love will open doors - even those to the human realms - that are locked to others.

Ok, the tree roots and gnarly tree roots I got the other day totally ROCK! they add a whole new dimension of detail to my work! The fantasy trees (i'd call them tree TRUNKS, not trees, as they have no leaves LOL) are pretty wicked, too. You can see the "Handtree" in the forground easily - I covered it in moss =D. The tree on the rock in the creek is also one of them. There's a few more in the background that I used in the ecosystems. Speaking of ecos... I FINALLY figured out why mine went completely loco. See, I set it up across 4 terrains - and started applying (painting) the items on that way - with all 4 terrains selected. Then, I cleared it as nothing was showing up on terrains 2, 3, and 4 - only on the 1st one. Seems, it didnt clear EVERYTHING, and two items were left - and hiding, as I never found them LOL. So, every time I wanted to change my ecosystem on either of those 4 terrains, I lost EVERYTHING. After about 5 or so times of starting over YET AGAIN.... I learned to NOT TOUCH THE ECOSYSTEM! LOL. Well, at this point, I had no idea what had actually caused my problems, but I did discover that new materials could have new ecosystems and not affect my original one... so I ended up creating a riverbed to add pebbles and algea/moss to - the water "movement" helps blur the line between the muddy bottom and the sloping of the terrain. I added some river rapids to the scene, changed THOSE materials (they seem to "glow" to me).... anyways, all in all, after 2 days of work... I am very VERY happy.

Wish i could find a way to eco-paint loose dirt..... hmmm, wonder if anyone has loose dirt available.... i think the creekbanks could use some.... on the roots poking out possibly? =D

CCox's Bookstore, textures adapted/modified/downright changed by me. I'm rather proud of myself, and can't wait to see how I manage the flames... =D

Anyways, this is in response to the store my SO Manages... it burned the other day. Not as bad as this image would have you think, but bad enough that although the store was closing its doors in about 6 weeks, they ended up closing for good early.

Anyways... as a prop, this is actually a nice one to work with. The textures were simple and easily understood as to what piece went where. There was also very little actual redundancy in material zones, which is a major annoyance for me. It did, however, crash and completely swallow my work whole at one point - when I was almost finished. I took a little break, and 2 hours later, had managed to recreate my work.

Photo in background was taken by me. It should be noted that the tree behind her is a diamond willow... highly prized for the shape of the knotholes. This is a rather large, older tree. The diamonds are created by a type of fungus, or a cancer (i cant remember which, and have no desire to wiki it right now LOL) in a particular variety of willow, and it takes years to develop to this state.

A Little Challenge

(Either the vendor name or the item name had to start with a certain letter... for clothing, we had three choices - V, S, and Z. for prop.scenery, we had R, E, and G). This is my result...

Flame Wings

Well, yesterday was interesting... I decided I wanted to try my hand at texturing The Wings by Rhiannon - available in the Renderosity Marketplace. Well worth the $$ as they're pretty versatile and UV mapped decently. I had to separate out the maps, as UVMapper likes to pile the maps on top of each other, and it makes it more difficult to determine lines. Thankfully, that IS something I managed to learn in the short UVMapper class I took at LVS.

Then into Photoshop... and while I had originally intended to begin with something Kissmassy... well, things rarely go as I intend them to. Thankfully... my artwork IS something that I can adapt to change fairly quickly.

So, they ended up being Flame Wings instead LOL. Complete with Transmap, and they even "glow in the dark" - i.e., remove ALL lighting from the scene and they will STILL show up - just a bit dimmer. There is, of course, a way to brighten them for those unlit scenes... and a way to dim them for brighter-lit scenes.

This was also my first foray into using the Ambient Occlusion feature in Poser. I STILL can't find a good definition for this lighting style, but it DOES mimic what happens RL with little effort.

I did do an oopsie, but it turned out lovely... I used a skin that had the AO effect already attached to it (don't ask... don't know HOW you can make a texture do things lighting is supposed to do... but then again, i can make things glow...) Then, I turned AO on all 5 lights. The background is also metallic/reflective, but a dark dark DARK grey, as I wanted most of it to vanish in the... well... background LOL. Picked my size... and 25 hours later, had a beautiful image.

My lighting still didn't turn out QUITE like I wanted, so I ended up doing postwork in Photoshop to lighten up her skin some and give her yellowish highlights (even though I had most of the lights "leaning" to the yellow-red tones, she still ended up looking purple-blue... not cool for such great lookin wings, huh?). Only SLIGHT work done on the wings, just to enhance what was already present.

I believe I may make this set a freebie, as I am not 100% satisfied with how they turned out - flame-wise anyway. First as an exclusive to my online family at the Faerie Hollow, and then a couple weeks later, to the general public.

But, I have ideas.... for more wings. =D Maybe, if I can be creative enough, I can even break into Rosity's and RDNA's marketplaces. Danged annoying if you ask me, stupid exclusive merchant clubs is the feeling new merchants get when they get rejected. At least RDNA was nice enough to explain why Kyleena wasn't accepted.... Promos, mainly. Seems... my promos lack LIFE, DEPTH, CHARACTER... yeesh. Looking at most of the ones by others, the only life is in the lighting - most of the characters look terribly bored.

Anyways.. here's Alice 4.0 wearing Whimsy Curls hair (both by Aery Soul), and TheWings from Rhiannon with my texture, as well as Classic Fantasy by Aery Soul.

New update to Alice - one of those collector dollies that are available for purchase for a week or two each december... Aery Soul stuff ROCKS ... and may i say, this is the loveliest Alice ever.

I used the Morph Clothing program to inject Alice 4.0 into the bridal set by Jasmina.... Alice WAS wearing most of the outfit, but decided at the last minute the shoes, stockings, and gloves (as well as necklaces) weren't suiting her, so she removed them.

I decided to try new camera angles... and ended up literally flipping the camera upside down to get this shot.

Finally got M4's morphs, so decided to install him and check him out. Poor guy has no clothes and had to borrow some hair! Poor Michael LOL.

Anyways, soon as I loaded him up and gave him a skin (the only one I have that looks remotely human), he struck a pose and winked. Then he asked where his gens were... LOL. Told them they were still in the box as I had no "skin" to apply to it and he would look reaaaaaaaaalllly funny with a flat white package. He said he'll wait for a skin with gens included to show off the rest of his fabulous body.

I got him because I feel he'll make an excellent Lord Night for the Thera Lycoris comic (there's an outfit I have to get for him that's just kick-butt for a wizard/mage!)

Assignment 6... and i'm rather pleased with it! On a personal note, with the spot color I chose - it was because it reminded me both of a royal shade of blue, a certain moment in the night-time, and the icy cold of the north. Many thanks to Paul for suggesting I add in the State of Alaska symbol in the background.

Introducing Kyleena, a dolly I've been working on for several days now. She has 1 base mat, 20 different makeups with matching lips, 13 different eyelashes, 12 different eyes, 30 different nails, and 3 different character injections. she also has options to return makeups to their natural state without having to resort to using the base mat again.
